3 Trendy Men’s Style Challenges
Men’s fashion always has a batch of trends going around, some pairing of colors or style of necktie. Just because these styles are trendy, however, doesn’t mean that they’re easy to wear. Some, like the ones listed below, can be downright daunting for the average guy. The risks, however, are proportional to the potential rewards, and these trends are the most rewarding ones to try this season.White Jeans
Guys nowadays are embracing a wider and wider range of clothing styles beyond what was once limited to suits and neckties. White jeans have been among the pieces finding a wider audience, now that men have discovered that going non-blue has its merits.
The trick to wearing white jeans is to play up the contrast; they’re only challenging when you work with the same color palette you’d use for dark blue denims. Go for blacks, navy and deep reds to offset the blinding white. Do the same thing for the shoes using a pair of classic black Vans sneakers (for casual) or sleek dark penny loafers.
You can even up the fashion quotient by layering a sport coat over your whole outfit for a more dynamic and contemporary look. It’s a strategy that you can take straight to work; swap in a dark colored shirt, a light necktie and dark leather accessories to turn the whole thing into an office-appropriate ensemble.
Colored Pants
Almost every guy used to have pants in just three colors: black, navy and gray. Today, though, everyone is discovering just how wearable every other color of the spectrum is. If you’ve ever had the hankering to try green or red for your pants, now’s the time to do it.
Like with white, contrast is once again the secret to pulling off a courageous pant color. Whereas dark colors were the rule for white pants, lighter colored tops paired with darker shades of pants have the regime here. The darker shade helps reduce the shock value of the unique color into a more elegant surprise element, while the light color balances the visual strength of the dark hue in turn.
The foolproof formula involves a nice-fitting crew- or v-neck tee or shirt, ideally topped off with a classic gray or black sport coat. You can’t go wrong with so classic a combo, even with a style item as rebellious as colored pants that your dad would object to.
Boots
A majority of modern men own a shoe closet that’s cut decidedly low, leaving ankles exposed. Recent movements in men’s fashion, though, have been trying out many other configurations – and the high-cut ones have been notably popular.
Choose your boots like you would your jackets and coats: the colder the weather, the heavier they should be, and vice versa. For fall, that means tougher boots with a chunkier sole than the daintier desert soles that are popular for spring and summer. Boots that have a name to them – Doc Martens and Redwing, especially – have instant tough-guy appeal, as well as a timeless aesthetic that you can wear regardless of year, season or trend.
The simplest way to wear fall style boots is to pair them with equally tough pants. You could pair them with chinos, but tried-and-tested denims are your foolproof choice. Whether you have a hardcore woodsman boot paired with a bold plaid or a sleeker work boot with your jacket and necktie, you can’t go wrong with a pair of good jeans.
